THE TALLEST BOXERS

Gogea Mitu 2.42 metres (7.9 ft) - heavyweight



Gogea Mitu was born on July 14, 1914 in Marsani and died June 22, 1936 in Bucharest he was a Romanian Boxer and one of the tallest Romanians of all time. Gogea Mitu is also listed by the Guinness Book of world Records as the tallest professional boxer.

At Venus Stadium in Bucharest Mitu won by knockout against the experienced Italian boxer Severio Gizzo in round three. In his second fight he fought against former Romanian heavyweight champion Dimitru Pacelescu, which Mitu won again by knockout in the first round. The only losses in his entire career were against the former Italian world champion Primo Carnera and the American boxer George Godfrey. After several matches his manager Umberto Lancia manage him to more important tournaments in Euopre where Mitu fought the German-French boxer Bergam and the fight resulted to a draw and this was Mitu's last fight as a professional boxer.
